What do online research
questionnaires look like?
 No two studies are
the identical. Opinion Point can tailor the questions
and the way in which the results are collated and
presented to suit your specific needs. We determine
this via face-to-face contact time – not remotely, as
is the case with many "do-it-yourself" surveys being
promoted on the web. This helps us to address the real
issues and assists us in providing you with useful,
reliable and valid results.

Where does the content for the
questionnaire come from? Who comes up with the
questions, writes the accompanying e-mails etc?
 Broadly, there are
three ways in which content is sourced:
- We can use an existing paper-based questionnaire
already in use within a business. Some modifications
may be necessary to web-enable the existing
material.
- Opinion Point can generally provide you with
draft questions, which you can use as a guide,
allowing you to add, delete and modify as required.
This is further aided by a series of intuitive
templates, specifically designed ease the process of
choosing the format and style of the question and
response.
- Finally, we can work with you to identify the
issues, design the questions and create a format and
style that would best do the job.

How long does a whole questionnaire
project take from design to the delivery of results?
 The simple answer
is – from a few of weeks to as short as 3 days. The
timeframe will largely depend on the scope of the
project. In many projects, the key determinant is the
timeframe allowed for responses to be
captured. |
 |
Who completes an online
questionnaire?
 You determine the
target audience(s). These may be internal (staff),
affiliated (agents/distributors), or existing and
potential clients. Simply put, “the people whose
feedback you need". Internal HR
projects could, for example, be designed for use with
groups as small as 10 or as big as several hundred. A
survey of a company’s online clients or shareholders
may involve many thousands of respondents. A
requirement is access to the Internet to complete the
questionnaire online. It may be that you choose to
also produce printed questionnaires, for input from
people not online. |
 |
How long does it take to complete an
online questionnaire?
 This will depend on
the length and complexity of the questionnaire. A
large number of very effective questionnaires are less
than 15 questions long, and may take just 2 to 3
minutes to complete online. At the other end, some
questionnaires may involve more in-depth consideration
by the respondent, and can take as long as 20 to 30
minutes. In such a case, the questionnaire can be
designed to be completed in stages. |
 |
How do the respondents get access to
the survey and are their responses kept
confidential?
There are a number of ways in which
the surveys can be distributed. Typically:
- You send out an e-mail with an embedded html
survey.
- You can send an e-mail invitation with the URL
of the questionnaire highlighted. They simply click
on the URL and are automatically connected.
- A link can be placed on your company's intranet
that directs the respondent to the Opinion Point
server. When the survey is completed, they are
returned to your company's server.
- For other situations, a combination of e-mail
and other written materials may provide them with
the logon URL.
We employ a secure technology to
protect the privacy of responses. The server is
located in a secure location with multiple layers of
data protection. It is possible to incorporate
password protection as a further layer of
security. |
